The
School's Aims
These are our aims
for the school. They have arisen following discussion with staff and governors
and form the basis upon which all our staff work.
To provide
a positive and enriching climate in which children and staff can
flourish, develop and feel valued.
To help children
develop lively enquiring minds; giving them the ability to question
and argue rationally, and to apply themselves to tasks and physical
skills, so that each may be given every opportunity and encouragement
to achieve his or her potential.
|
|
|
To instil
respect for moral values, for other people and for oneself, as well
as tolerance of other races, religions and ways of life.
To develop
children as independent learners, able to exercise initiative, self-discipline
and collaborative as well as individual judgement.
|
| To help children
understand the world in which we live and the interdependence of nations
and people. To
help children use language effectively and imaginatively in reading,
writing and speaking. |
|
|
To provide
the basis of mathematical, scientific and technical knowledge, enabling
children to learn the essential skills needed in a fast changing
world of work.
To teach children
about human achievement and aspirations in the arts and sciences,
in religion and in the search for a more just social order.
|
To stimulate
the senses so that members of the school can appreciate and contribute
to the physical environment. 'Green' issues and our responsibilities
to the environment will be given a high profile.
To encourage
and foster the development of those children whose intellectual,
physical or environmental situation hampers their capacity to learn,
if necessary by making additional resources available to them. |
|
 |
To work closely
with parents so that home and school can work together for the benefit
of each child. |
